Hide Window Shortcuts

January 15, 2013 — 2 Comments

I got another shortcut to share! I was spending some time in my command line app of choice (iTerm2) and was trying to remember the keyboard shortcut to split a new shell window horizontally. I forgot one of the keys and thus figured out a new shortcut accidentally. This accidental set of key strokes minimized all of the inactive application and brought focus to my current application. Here’s the newest keyboard shortcuts:

  • Command + H in any application will hide that application
  • Command + H + Option is the one that hides all the other windows and brings focus to your active application

Anyone else have any keyboard shortcuts that they like or use frequently?

  1. Worst shortcut: command-esc.
Super secret volume shortcut: option-shift-volume up/down. Changes volume by 1/4 steps rather than whole steps.
